Foggy Sapa: moody, mysterious mountain town shots

I spent two nights in Sapa last week, and the fact it was mid December probably contributed to the fact it looked nothing like the photos advertised.

The visibility was ridiculously bad, meaning that the trekking I had been keen on was out of the question. At least this was because of Vietnamese mountain obliterating fog, as opposed to Beijing’s shocking pollution, but it was a real shame, and pretty scary.

In true tenacious fashion I ventured out anyhow (a girl’s gotta eat!). Photography-wise, the drizzly conditions certainly worsened the picture quality, but hopefully the weather makes them look somewhat interesting and atmospheric.

Highlights include Sapa’s Stone Church, lake (gold star if you can tell which it image it is in) and a woman from one of the region’s many minority groups, illuminated by the headlights of an incoming vehicle.
