In photography, golden hour refers to the hour after sunrise and hour before sunset when the light is at its most gorgeous.
The sun being lower in the sky adds more dimension to the scene, because shadows are softer and light warmer. It’s pretty magical.
I can count two occasions in the past half decade where I’ve been awake for sunrise (to hike Masada in Israel and climb Emei Shan in China). OK, that makes me sound impressively active… there are plenty more, but all of which involve alcohol-related antics, not photography ones.
So, moving swiftly onwards, I’ve collated some sunset snaps I’ve taken in the past two years. They span three continents and 10 cities!
I spent hours yesterday wandering Toronto’s gorgeous harbourfront, which made me far too excited for warm weather and sunny skies. With that in mind, there’ll hopefully be plenty more stunning sunsets and photography blog posts soon…
