A Canadian spring

A Canadian spring bears little resemblance to an Arab spring – Canadians are much too polite and reserved for political riots.

It also bears little resemblance to any spring I’ve ever experienced in Britain, because it takes SO DAMN LONG for it to appear. I’m used to temperatures rising mid March, but for stubbornly freezing Toronto, it took till the end of April for the ice to thaw.

But when warm weathers came, boy were they worth the wait. I’ve never seen a city come to life so excitedly and colourfully.

The following photos were all taken at Toronto’s harbourfront and in a selection of its gorgeous parks (High Park, Trinity Bellwoods Park, Humber Bay Park and Bluffers Park):
